I don't think the wage gap is a problem here. How can you determine a wage discrepancy if women only make up about 5-10% of the workforce in this field. Plus, you don't know if most of the women are earlier in their careers compared to the men or a multitude of other things. This data is incomplete and a true conclusion cannot be drawn from it.
It should be noted that there is a much larger percentage of men in each category so women aren't necessarily completely represented so if more were to have applied maybe they would have seen more pay
It is tough for females in the gaming industry. A problem for females that are in this field would be pregnancy. It takes developers roughly 2-3 years to make a game. If a female were to become pregnant in the beginning of development she would be way behind the rest of team when she would return. Paying them less for that is not right in my mind.
The reason there seems to be a wage gap is because there are more men in the feild of game making. there are more men in higher places then girls. They also have been in this feild of works for a shorter time then men so they dont have the experience that men do. the more experience the more you get paid.

ReplyDeleteI think its wrong to have a gap. women have every right to the same pay as men .I think women work twice as hard then men do.

ReplyDeleteMakes sense, more men play the games, men should be paid more. The game industry is male dominated so it just kinda makes sense.
