I believe the technology that is with us everyday is a very good thing. Having access to limitless information all the time really does help students. It makes research and studying a much simpler task.
I would say we benefit from it in some ways. We find out about other things while using are technology, such as marketing things and we can communicate with others without even getting up off are ass's!
I think that using media in school and for studying is important because of how technological the world is, but on the other hand, i feel that some students get distracted and don't get as much done. It might just depend on the student.
Technology has its good and bad things. I believe that there are many more positives than negatives. Social networking is allowing us to see so many different things. There is so much to learn on the internet and social networking. The sharing of information from student to student can be so much easier with social networking. Teacher are able to access this ability and send information to students. There are websites like Edmodo that teachers and students can use for school to share assignments and send in homework.
I feel that technology, in the wrong hands, can cause some serious destruction to a student's ability to learn. To often do I see students that could be doing homework playing games on their phone instead. I am as guilty as anyone; phones can be addicting.
Technology is a great tool for many things and I think it benefits students a lot. The downside though is that technology can be used too much and create real social disconnection in the real world. Plus technology can be very distracting when you need to get something done, or to simply sleep for that matter.

social media is a good helping step in learing and is very useful but i dont think we should have huge requirments of our grade pending on a social media sight of school work. in class decussion and simple book work is the best way to learn.
Social media is a great thing for students because we use it for everything it seems like. For the things i dont know i can just google it and find the answer in short seconds. But yet its not such a good thing, it breaks families apart, relationships and loss of jobs because they can't stop being on facebook, twitter and ect.
People don't have the same control or knowledge of social media simply because it hasn't been around for long. It will stay and we will learn more about how it affects us as we adapt to it and it becomes integral to our lives and a normal part of it
I think that it is a faster way to gain information, but I would not presume we learn more effectively. I know that is not what you said, but I am just stating an opinion.
I do not think social media is the optimum for of communication, but it certainly can function fine as a communication device. Nothing beats talking to someone to learn and understand, but social media can be somewhat effective as well.
its a good thing because you can talk to so many different people around the world using it. If you have family in a different state or country or friends you can talk to them using it.
its funny how our generation gets more and more into their technology to find more information about things. it could be a good or a bad thing.

ReplyDeleteTechnology is extremely helpful when you need to find things out and research for school, but I myself find that I am on Facebook and Twitter a lot.
