The fine folks at 60 minutes failed to mention a few key facts. The only reason Morton was arrested to begin with was the Travis County medical examiner said that Christine died before Micheal went to work. Everything else was built around that. Including the fact that nothing was taken from the house except for a purse and a hand gun that Morton specifically about when he rived at the house. None of the jewelry in the bedroom was taken and there were items from the room piled on the body. Scheck said that there was a cashed check that was cashed by the real killer (the check was found in a file that was in the Sheriffs records(pulling bank records is a standard practice)), but when the AG of Texas asked Morton under oath about it he all of a sudden remembered that HE had cashed it back in '86 by signing his wife's name. But for the past few months he and Scheck had said that the killer had used that check and a credit card after the murder. The credit card bill came to his house for two months before his arrest warrant was issued. He never once saw or reported anything about transactions that were not made by him. But once again Sheck promoted this to the media as proof that there was withheld evidence. And most importantly of all the bandanna was not collected by the CSI because it "looked old and probably had been there for a while". Not sure how a cloth that had blood on it from a murder a few hours earlier came to look like that. The brother in law was the one that retrieved it and brought it back into the home that still contained traces of blood. It wasn't until the next day that he brought it to the police. The chain of custody of such an important piece of evidence should have been scrutinized more thoroughly. But none of it was investigated after the DNA match. There is so much that this story didn't explain or even acknowledge. All of the actual truth will come out once Anderson and Rusty are able to subpoena, Bill Allison and Bill White, Berry Scheck and most importantly Micheal Morton. The entire case is terribly sad but indulging in lies and speculation is no way to run a news program. I just wish the journalist cared about the truth as apposed to getting her big interview and ridding a story to the front page of peoples minds.

  5. Things like this shouldn't happen. 25 years is such a large part of your life to lose. I agree with juliet, the prosecution should be charged with withholding evidence.

  9. This is so stupid. Why would we trust a system that screws people like that? Rules and laws should be in place that keep the prosecution in line. It sucks when innocent people are convicted and guilty people go free.

  10. This gave me a sick feeling in my stomach to watch. This poor man was robbed of 25 years of his life that he will never get back, while on the other side there was evidence that pointed to his innocence. I'd like to say that I can trust our legal system, but it's things like this that make me wonder. His life could have been so different if the evidence was given.

  11. I think that judging trials correctly is one thing our country is too loose and not completely sure on. I think that a more strict judge system is needed but in a sense this would also be a bad thing cuz there WILL be times where someone innocent will be convicted of a crime.

  12. i think that its sad that people go to prison for things the didnt do and the people that do do things are laughing at the system because they just got away with it
