  1. I think that television has taken over younger children. I remember being that age and my mom wouldn't even let me watch the cartoon Doug. It seems like now children basically watch anything they can get their eyes on. I don't think that 9-11 year old kids should be concerned with their image yet, their still growing. These traits aren't healthy for the younger generation. From experience my two siblings seem to be a little more cocky, and outspoken. When I was there age, if someone older snapped at me I was on the verge of bursting into tears. Now days if we say something is inappropriate or try to 'guide' them not to do certain things, they lip off right back to us.

  2. I agree kids are getting way to influenced by these tv shows. They shouldnt have to worry about thier image and wealth at such a young age. I belive parents its the parents job to make sure thier kids understand good values and what really matters.

  3. I agree with anonymous69. Kids arent disciplined enough nowadays. TV does influence the way kids act, and if they are allowed to watch whatever they want, then they will start to act the way they see it on TV. Kids need to not lip off to older kids or their parents or anyone older than them that are giving them advice.

  4. Yes Children try to act like their favorite TV character and because of today’s TV shows children are being to be more pampers and prepped little kids. Getting everything they want, doing what they want at such a young age I mean yeah once you reach that certain age like 15 16 17 yeah go right a head do what you want start earning your freedom start LEARNING to become a young responsible adult. But that the thing they don’t understand is their not young adult yet their still little kids. They need that guidance so that they don’t become the 16 and pregnant star on TV or the drug addict on the TV. If they take in the good message that the show is trying to give them and maybe learn from that not doing what they see on the show because they’re favorite actor is doing. Heck why don’t we just all watch Spongebob.

  5. I agree, the media has more influence over children now because theres more of it. I have also noticed in the newspaper when they print what children want to be when they grow up that many say they want to be famous or rich.

  6. I mean there's a fine line of wanting to be a'princess' when you grow up, but being 9-11 that's getting a little otu of control. I don't necessarily think that watching these shows is going to be the deciding factor that they'll be on 16 and pregnant or intervention. I think it just all boils down to the respect issue. Cause those characters on tv are all a tad bit lippy. That Zach and Cody show that rich girl is a snot, and that's how kids pick up on behaviors, if they are veged out in front of the tv 24/7

  7. i think that younger kids now days are becoming more concerened with there image because they see these shows and in the shows the "different" ones get made fun of so they dont want that which is bad for kids because they are young and it shouldnt matter what they look like and they shouldnt watch shows that focus on image because that can cause they to have very bad self image issues so i think that kids that are not mature enough to understand that these are just shows and the things in there are not true for the most part should not watch these types of shows

  8. As a younger Child my parents would not let me watch many things such as spongebob rug rats etc etc but now days im grateful i feel like they saved my IQ and i have seen some of the shows and seen that I really didn't miss anything.

  9. I was never allowed to watch Doug either! Or the Simpsons, Rugrats, the list goes on... I really agree that the basis on fame and beauty is negatively impacting kids. Hopefully parents will realize that and start teaching their children other values. I know that when I'm a parent, my kids will be watching Little Rascals!

  10. I completely agree with the author of this article. I believe parents of this generations have become to relaxed on disciplining their children. Kids are getting a little too much of a leash on what they do. This is also why kids have become rude, selfish, and have a give-me-give-me attitude.

  11. Iagree with this article. However i dont think it just the parents because they really dont control what is on the tv and to my knowing there is nothing on tv with good values. So if it was just the parents fault they would not allow any tv to be watched. they can not monitor how much their kids watch.

  12. I dont believe its the medias fault in how children act. I believe its the parents fault. Children would not act like disrepectful brats if their parents disciplined them better.

  13. I believe it a combination of both parents and TV because most parents are both working and are not able to monitor what there kids are watching on TV when they are not home. The choice of shows that children have to watch are not appropaite for their age. There are also to many reality TV shows out there are not true reality

  14. Television and media impact children and they could definitely try to be positive influences but in the end it's up to the parents to raise their kids to be responsible people.

  15. I remember when I was a little kid, I was only allowed an hour a day of television. I spent most of my time outside, playing and being active. Which is what kids now a days are lacking..they are lazy.

  16. i think that now days technology is taking over. now days everyone from like 8 and older have a cell phone and they are always on it, same with tv shows they come out with these weird tv shows and everyone cant wait to watch them. most people are forgetting what really matters in life, such as family etc. but i dont think it is all the parents fault. kids still have control over what they do.
