that is what needs to be looked at in the PTSD department. if they group all the troops with "illness" in one place, then that needs to be broken down into different illness stages.
It sounds like these cases could have been prevented by having a stricter recruitment process. People with a mental illness should not be given a gun and told to fight.
I feel really bad for all of our soldiers who serve for our country and get diagnosed with PTSD. I feel like this guy had other mental illnesses that caused this, not PTSD. He only served 4 months in the logistical support department and he was never injured.
If the cause is PTSD and we know that this occurs most often in combat engagements, do we limit their exposure to combat or do we do a better job of preparing them the complications as a result of combat? which would cost a lot more money.
i think we need to do a better job of preparing them for intense combat because who knows when or where the intense combat will occur it could happen here instead of iraq and to any solider involved
If they knew already that this guy had mental health issues why were they not paying better attention to him? I think they need to better prepare soldiers for combat
I think that we should be preparing our soldiers for the experiences they will face over seas. If we prepare them more, we might be able to avoid things like this
it is not as simple as some of you think the symptoms of these disorders my not surface for 5 to 10 years and the government can not keep track of every veteran that leaves the military what they need to do is help them find a steady job so that they have something to do. most of these suicides are because the veterans have problems adjusting and finding jobs to support their families.
I think metal health in general should put higher up on the to do list. We need to crack and help are vets way more. I also agree that more trainning should be giving to help prepare them better.
America's soldiers should be made prepared for the trauma of service, and they should receive help in resocializing themselves once they return from active duty.
The people in charge need to pay more attention to their military. If they could have found help for this man it could have been prevented.

ReplyDeleteAll vets handle it different and I think we need to do a better job preparing them instead of limiting their amount of time engaged in combat

ReplyDeleteDon't you think that if we prepared them more in some way that the recovery from this disorder could be 1-2 or 2-3 years instead of 5 to 10

ReplyDeleteThe recruitment process definitely needs to be taken more seriously and closer watched over being said since this case happened
ReplyDeleteI think most of us agree they need more attention
