What angers me about this is that the NFL knew he hit his wife. Even though they knew, as soon as they got a video of it they flip out and act like its a whole new thing. Why would you change the ruling of someone's punishment for something that he did, and you know he did, just because you now have video of it? In essence, its liking ruling someone to 10 years for murder, then seeing a video of it and then giving them 50, makes 0 sense in any way.
I completely agree with you. They had previously suspended him for only two weeks but now that they suddenly have proof they decide to fire him? It's not like he did anything different, it's just now they suddenly have proof.
I don't think what the NFL did was right by changing the ruling of their decision after the video was released, but this created an example of what will happen to others if they violate the personal conduct policy. The NFL is taking any personal conduct offenses very serious.
I agree that the NFL should not be changing their original ruling. In my opinion they should have suspended him right away, forget about the 2 week suspension. But on the other hand if they did not know the extent of the violence at first it is somewhat reasonable. Overall I think they should have further investigated the situation when they first found out about it and realized the extent on their own.
