This would be interesting, but through out hisotry. during new expiditions the first settlements seem to always fail! so i wouldnt be on the fist trip! but i think thisis a great way to privatise the space industry and its a great leap for man kind if this is attempted
I agree with you roberto. i definitely wouldnt want to be the first person sent on a trip there but it would be a fun experience if they find an actual 2 way trip.
yes and it would greatly imporve life on earth.. maybe if we had the right ships or transportation we could move a lot of the factories out to mars. i was watching a show on discovery channel once and they said if we could restart the core of mars we would need to burn green house gasses to build up the atmosphere.. so we could move all of our factories there to help build the atmosphere and make earth to a tree hugers paradise
Even if all the tech and live support meet the needs of the astronauts' bodies I don't think they would last more than 5-10 years before going insane and kill eachother.
Yeah there not just gonna leave you out there! i bet they send a bunch of supplies there every couple months... im sure there would be more people coming there eventually! so its not like its the same people! and besides 78,000 people are a lot of people! they wouldnt get sick of every one that fast
Yes I am sure they would receive supplies from Earth on a routine basis at first, but the goal is to build a self sustaining colony that doesn't need supplies from earth. Also, I don't think a private dutch organization will have the time or money to send more people within several years of the first voyage leaving the first voyagers on their own for a considerable amount of time.
yes, but im sure if they were to send supplies, that they would send at least a few new people. im not saying thousands of people but maybe.. with the right equipment they could send 100 to 200 more people along with the supplies.. and i also hope that these people know what there getting in to.. its not like a video game its real life, there is no reset button.
I think some people need to get a hold of reality here on their dreams for going to mars. A bag boy from cali is not going to get to go to mars over a graduate from oxford.
Given the massive amount of time it will take to get to mars, there will be a need for artificial gravity, likely in the form of rotating sections of the spaceships. Those areas would be used for exercise, preventing muscle and bone loss.
I don't think that trying to live somewhere else would be good and help with science but I would not be okay with never being able to come back to earth.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Robert. This is huge step forward for man kind. if we can successfully live on mars it would be a feat that i could hardly imagine.

ReplyDeletei agree with larry hoova....your nuts if you think im going to mars!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if even 8 years of training would be enough to prepare someone for living on another planet.
ReplyDeleteYou need to change your entire world if you go to live at on a different planet. Many people will be begging to come back in a few weeks
ReplyDeletewhy do we need to go to mars? Total waste of time and money.
ReplyDeleteI give them a 50/50 shot at actually reaching mars.
ReplyDeletewill the send males and females out to mars to breed martian babies?
ReplyDeleteIf I were on mars with other people it would be survival of the fittest.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have the time or patience to worry about other people's 'needs'

ReplyDeleteSingsank, did I ever tell you that you are my favorite teacher?
ReplyDeleteSociology is the most constructive and beneficial class I've taken this year
ReplyDeleteWhy do we need to focus on stepping foot on others planets when we can't even solve the problems we have here on earth?
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to mars.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we just go to saturn instead of mars?
ReplyDeleteWhat if we found oil on mars????
ReplyDeleteOr the largest deposit of Diamonds known to man??
ReplyDeleteWould there be a rush to establish colonies by national governments to claim such resources??
ReplyDeleteHow would disputes between governments play out on mars? War on another planet??

ReplyDeleteI feel like it would turn in a Hunger Games fight til the death just to survive scenario. It just sounds like a disaster. What's wrong with earth?
ReplyDeleteI don't think that trying to live somewhere else would be good and help with science but I would not be okay with never being able to come back to earth.
ReplyDeleteThis is nothing to worry about because a human being will never reach mars.
