One does not simply be a hipster. the group of friends and things you like to do are what make you a hipster. Going down with your friends to play card games at a coffee house is a good example. Going to with your friends to watch a football game though is not hipster. With consideration with nerds and hipsters, nerds are nothing close to a hipster.
I'm not sure if there is a little hipster in ALL of us but most of us will take items from a sub-culture and try to give it value in our own culture. Take a look at a cowboy hat, or cowboy boots. Some of us who have these things are neither "cowboys" or live on a farm.
I think the cowboy example is a great way to show how someone might have a bit of hipster in them. People wear cowboy hats and boots when they have absolutely zero affiliation to them except for maybe some country music listening. The "fake" cowboy hat thing is actually something I partially despise.
True there ppl that just ware cow boy boots and hat and don't live on a farm they ware it just bc we live in a small town where u just see lots of corn Fields and country stuff and country music !!!!
i didnt like this video, i beleive that there not hipsters or nerds thats just how they dress and want to look and how they do stuff like they said nerds are in many different things like video game nerd well im in wrestling i do alot of that does that call me a nerd? or with hipsters they wear cloths that are tight or baggy well that could just be how they were raised and its normal to them!
I agree with what this video has to say. The main difference between being a nerd and a hipster is expressing what you love openly and trying to be superior with your "ideas and multiple cultures thing." I don't think all hipsters are all bad or anything, but that is the general idea that pops into my head at least. I do respect however, how people can truly just be themselves and be happy.
Nerds are the guys that sit at home on the weekends and play world of warcraft with their 'clan members'. Or as I like to call them, 'The physically impared society'.
That's a rather harsh point of view and a huge stereotype, not all nerds sit at home all day playing world of warcraft with physical issues. Even if some of them do that, if they are happy and they are not being a burden to society let them world of warcraft all they want it's not like it is going to effect you.
This video is speaking the truth. But what makes people nerds and or a hipster is how they express themselves. I agree but i don't agree witht he video. Because like larry said some people do both things? so what does that make them... I just accept people for who they are and don't try and change them :)
This video is pretty funny, I get that it seems to be that nerds aren't being scrutinized anymore and its weird to realize people don't identify themselves as hipsters. But I realize that is true. I don't have anything against them, I don't care how people want to live their own life.
I really enjoyed the the video and it made a valid point. Everyone's definition of a nerd and a hipster can be different but the video basically summed up the most important parts. I am not in to the whole nerd and hipster thing so i really don't know a whole lot about them or the differences, but the video helped clear a few things up.
I believe it is all in how your raised.. if your raised by nerd parents youll prolly be tought well through out there life, or if you grow up in the geto youll prolly grow up with baggy pants and flat billed hats.
Nerds are people who do alot of after school stuff an know all the answers to things or teachers pets,hipsters play it cool an do as they feel free to do.
I agree with Tyler. It's all about how you're raised. You're a reflection of your parents. Just something how it's always going to be. You may not be entirely like your parents, but somehow you definitely are.
I dont always believe of this situation because say a kid and his parents live in the ghetto and the kids parents are gang bangers and he thinks to himself i dont want to grow up and live the way my parents did so he changes his life. I mean i have watched a lot of documentary's on athletes where there parents raised them up in a bad environment and didn't end up being reeled into the bad life of some of the kids.
people can choose to express themselves in any way they want. if they are a hipster or nerd or athletic. its much more than just a group name it allows people to be themselves with other people with similar beliefs and interests.
