What about the kids that have a hard time with tests? Or they don't do that great in school, like attaining a B all through school. When that test comes out, it puts so much pressure if you have to pass to graduate. Some kids can get so stressed about it and could ruin a future for them. I think we should have tests just to see what majors we would like, but not to pass for a graduation.
I think that testing them in their specific field is a good idea. Don't give them a paper test, give them a test on doing specific tasks they will have to do in their career.
I think that this is a good idea because you dont want sombody going out for a profession and dont know as much as you would like them to know. The test should show if that person is ready or not to go out and do their own thing.
We already have to take a test, depending on where you go to college and what college you go to, but now we have to take one to get out. Hard to get in and hard to get out.
I think at the end of the courses you need to be given a hands on test instead of doing on a stupid piece of paper which really does mean anything if you can not actually do in really life. If a nurse passes her test on giving shots but does not stick it in the right place on a real person why does it even matter. I could give my self the shot my looking at a diagram. Stay Classy ACGC
The test doesn't sound like a terrible idea, it would be a good way to really test a students knowledge. However, what happens if you don't pass it? Do you just not graduate? Do you have to retake classes? Do you have to pay for the classes you would have to retake? There needs to be more clarification.
I agree with Steve Jewbs. Paper tests won't show abilities for jobs. It just shows that they have the knowledge about their career. Hands-on experience is much more useful and effective than a sheet of paper.
What happens if you don't pass? Do you have to take the classes over again and pay for them? I also agree with Diamond4...what happens to the students who get good grades but do not do very well with tests?
The subject being stated already with kids that aren't the best at test taking is something that I agree with. I know me for one, I'm not the best at test taking and this makes me a little nervous if it goes through and we do have to take a test, I for one won't be in the best situation. If you have the information and the knowledge that you need to know for your choice of career but have to take a test that in your mind are going to fail it, it could mean that you just wasted a whole lot of money and time even though you have what it takes to do your job.
I agree with display name and steve jewbs. There is already and ACT or SAT exam to get into college, it's going to become just as hard to get out as it is to get in. Also when performing for a job, isn't it better to be able to do the actually application rather than filling in vocab words. A hands on test would be best.

I agree I think they should get a hands on test for what they are going for, because it will show the professors and everyone else that they can do it and they did learn it. I mean either way if they do a hands on test that person should be able to pass it no problem, because they are going to have to do it when they get in the real world anyways and if they fail then they can work at when they need to improve.
If they have to take a paper test that there are some people that are not good at taking test and they would fail and they would not be able to graduate that they should have to test on thing that they would have to do hand on test so they know what to do
we have have to take enough test to get there why should we have to take one to leave? and if parents are concerned about not getting their money's worth maybe their child should have paid more attention during class and partied less.
hands on testing in your major is a lot more important than a paper test. An extra test to assure that the person knows what they are doing would be nice, but I dont think that it is nessecary.
From what the article said, it sounds like you would rely have to not know about your field in order to not pass. As long as you are engaged and make strides to learning about your field you should do fine.
I completely agree with this article. You should have to take an exit quiz the best example i think thats out there is nursing. When i got my CNA i had to take a written and skills test just to get it and pass both. They are right. You dont want someone doing something your paying for if they have only taken a paper test you want them to have done it before and know what they are doing.

ReplyDeleteI think it is the right idea. if you spent how many years in college. you better have something to show for it.
